It’s a lamp. I mixed the clay and tried to create the feeling of flames. When the light is on, it does look like flames. However, it’s not a beautiful piece. I guess it’s fate will be in trash can as a born out result.
Most likely, you used the default metering. I'd suggest trying different metering of your camera, if there the options are available. Spot metering might help to reduce the over-exposure of the lights in the lamp.
If you could let me know your camera's brand and model, I might be able to find out its specifications online to let you know whether you have spot metering. The other alternative is to light up the subject so then entire setting shows mild contrasts.
