  1. So you like the lotus flowers and use it as a manifestation of self. When was the first time you adopted this symbolism? What went through your mind at that moment?

  2. It is based my name, literaly. My dad gave me the name and wish me to bring a brother to this family. Well, he never admitted this intention though. When I introduced myself, I used to employ the phrase “並蒂蓮開” for the characters.
Due to my name, I am very good at drawing lotus. Sometimes, I carved a simple lotus instead of a signature on my artworks.

  3. Of course, how dumb I am, not to associate your name with lotus flowers. However, no matter by your father or yourself, using lotus flowers as your signature has special meaning spiritually. 觀世音菩薩在靈乩書畫中的簽名也是一朵蓮花。Your name symbolizes purity and serenity. :)

  4. Also, I like the color tone of this piece very much, the colors of the flowers and the plate are so well coordinated. The color tone of the plate almost gives me a feeling of metal aged for a long time. Great piece!

  5. Wow, photography is difficult! No matter how I changed the light sources, the reflection was still there. I should purchase a black cloth as you suggested. The only backgrounds I could get are either carpet or area rugs.
If you like this piece, do you want to have it? I am not going to bring back my works. They are either gifts to friends or trash after December 20th.

  7. The shadows in the top picture is almost invisible. There are some orange reflections in side the plate bottom which is not present in the bottom one, though. Is that what you are referring to?

Without knowing the exact geometry of this plate, my guess is if the light comes from the direction of the stems on the edge, it might reduce some reflections of the flowers inside the plate. However, I think some reflections on the flowers are necessary. If there could be more gradient of colors or lights shown on the the raised portion of the plate, that would give it even more 3-D effects.

Compared the two photos, the top one definitely shows more color variations and more sense of depth than the bottom picture, would you agree?

  8. After reading all your advanced suggestions about photo-taking, I found out the easiest way to deal with the problem of light, angle, and so on.
I will simply give it to you and you take the photo. So, I can take the beautiful picture, which will be even better than my original work, back to Taiwan and leave you the heavy trash.

  9. Well, don't bet too much on my studio photography because I don't have proper settings, either. :(

You are definitely welcome to leave me all those pieces going to trash otherwise.
